Skerries Harps vs St Peregrines
Score: 5-15 to 0-18
It was all to play for on a warm and sunny morning in Skerries as both teams needed a win to see them through to the quarterfinal stage.
Harps got off to a great start with full forward Ronan Geoghegan finding the back of the net within the first few mins of action. This was swiftly followed by a nicely taken point by half forward Simon Connolly. Peregrines had a chance at the opposite end, but racked up a couple of wides in quick succession. Harps goalie Tom Leach was well protected by a strong full back line, and was delivering some on point puck outs up to half time. Midfield pairing of Tom Grehan and James Kenny battled hard for every ball, winning the majority of the puck outs coming from both goalkeepers.
Peregrines had a number of chances from play missed, but continued to score from frees awarded, but the pressure was relentless from every player in a blue Jersey with Ronan Geoghegan again finding the back of the net, with a superb goal into the topj corner, leaving the peregrines keeper helpless. Simon Connolly continued to punish at every opportunity from frees, with Luke Whelan winning some lovely ball and converting to keep the scoreboard ticking.over. Peregrines struggled to convert from play, with the majority of the scores from frees. Skerries kept the pressure up all through the 2nd half, relentless in the tackle, especially Aaron Rock, Oscar McIvor Lynch & Joe Roger's.
A strong team performance from Skerries Harps saw them make it out of the group into the quarterfinal stages.
