U8s see off Kickhams for sixth win out of six

Ballymun Kickhams at St Kevins College was the venue for Saturday’s matches. We expected a tough day's football and that is exactly what we got. It was a physical and bruising encounter.  In a mix of threatening skies and some hints of summer ahead, we sent our 28 troops out to play 2 games each - 9 players a side.

As far as we know Ballymun Kickhams concentrate solely on football. As such, when we are out hurling every second week, they are practicing for their next football match.

Their skills are very good and they are tough battlers who hunt down the ball like our own guys – ferociously.  However, our lads are always well up for a physical encounter. The tackling and blocking drills Brendan put together for last Wednesday’s training session shone through and it meant that the Kickhams lads were left with no time on the ball and very few scoring opportunities.

We have also put some time in training into point kicking. This also showed with our forward lines turning and taking their points very well. There was a particular eye for goal shown by Paddy Sparling and Finn Lehane, who both showed their skills on the pitch with some well taken points.  That is to name but two, but all played exceptionally.

Every player out there gave their all and they got their just deserts.... All mentors smiling as we congregated afterwards told us all we needed to know - 6 wins out of 6! We got a good group shot at the end which shows all the lads having enjoyed a great morning out.  Enjoying the game no matter what the result is the most important thing.

Finally - a big thanks once again to all the parents who travelled on Saturday. Great to see a fan club forming.  Your attendance is greatly appreciated and the kids love showing you what they can do on the pitch!
