U15 A Shield Semi Final vs St Vincents: Harps 5-11 St Vincents 1-6

Coleman Fuels the Harps Fire !!

Harps travelled to St. Vincents having suffered a 15 point defeat in the corresponding league fixture in June. However, it was to be a different story today, with the Blues intent on winning silverware again this year.

Harps started brightly with two quick points from play from Aidan Coleman and Robert Delaney before Vincents got a grip and formed several attacks in succession which were thwarted by the great full back wall of Adam El Shamy, Paul Wilde and Eoin Winters. It ebbed and flowed for 15 minutes before David Boyd, a constant thorn in the Vinnies defence, passed to Coleman who blasted his first goal. This was followed up before half time by Matt Kelly, who rounded off a great move with a slick finish. Half time, Harps 2-2 St Vincents 0-3.

As expected Vins came at the Harps and but for some great goalkeeping by our stand-in for the day,  Naoise Gilmore, they could have eaten into Skerries lead. After eventually conceding a well worked Vincents goal, the Harps half back line of Cian Mullarkey, Rory Garland and Finn Chatten began to up the intensity of the Harps challenge. Their link up play with Dan O Driscoll and Adam Fearon at midfield opened up the defence for a barrage of second half Harps firepower.

The ever industrious Sean Campbell set up Coleman’s second goal before an exceptional Matt Dooley pass put Coleman through for his hat-trick.  But Coleman wasn’t finished yet. A superb seasiders attack culminated in placing Aidan in space before he converted, his fourth goal, rattling the onion sack with his left boot. The introduction of Emmet Trant, Clinton Opara and Liam Byrne brought fresh legs into attack and Harps took full control and started to show a swagger to their game. Further scores from Dooley, Delaney, Fearon and Kelly rounded off a near perfect performance.

The squad then travelled to Garristown to witness the senior footballers impress in the senior championship. Well done lads and looking forward to another final !!, C’mon the Harps.
