U14 Camogie teams Trip to Tip

posted 20 May 2014, 05:09 by Skerries Harps

On Saturday May 17th the U14 Camogie team along with twelve parents travelled to Nenagh, County Tipperary on an overnight  trip, where they accredited themselves well in a friendly match against an Éire Óg  U14  team who will be competing for their 3rd county final in four years on Monday 19th May.  The game was played in McDonagh Park on a pitch usually reserved for senior hurling and intercounty league matches. Their coach commended Skerries Harps on their competitiveness and ability in a hard fought match and said he would love a rematch in Skerries in the near future.  After the game the girls and their parents were shown great hospitality in the club house with an abundance of refreshments

On returning to our hotel the girls enjoyed a well deserved dip in the hotel pool, followed by dinner and a walk downtown  to explore Nenagh.  Later in the evening they attended a wedding (by special invitation of the bride!) where they danced and mixed with the other guests.  On Sunday morning after a good breakfast and another swim it was time to return home.

A great weekend was had by all. It was truly a team bonding experience for the girls. They were a credit to their club and their parents, a sentiment that was expressed by members of staff at the hotel, members of Éire ÓG GAA and all parents/mentors travelling with them.

They are already wondering where their trip will be to next year !
