U14 Boys Football (Cup) Vs St. Sylvesters

St. Sylvesters 2-10 Skerries Harps 3-8 

Played in Bridgefield, Malahide this game turned out to be a cracker from start to finish. Sylvesters raced into an early leading bagging a goal and a point within a few minutes of the start.
Skerries soon got to grips with the hosts, captain and full back Cormac Rocks led from the back and proved to be a calming influence on his team mates.
Skerries eased back into the game with a points from centre back Sam Jones and half forward Luke Harrison. Sylvesters again tagged on a few points some inspirational scores from Adam Bund and Senad Mehmedovic and excellent play from Daragh Redmond, Tim Sharkey and Shane Dowling kept Skerries within touch distance. Sylvesters led 1-4 to 0-4 at half time.

Two quick fire goals from Luke Harrison pushed Skerries into the lead for the first time and with a spectacular save from goalkeeper Liam Woodcock Skeeries continued in that vein for the remainder of the game. With a strong half back line of Ciaran Foran, Sam Jones and Fionn O'Leary and scores from midfielders Conor Walsh and Ben Keogh Skerries pushed on to maintain control of the game. Sylvesters were not to be seen off without a fight and pulled the game back to three points before corner forward finished of a great move to hit the Sylvesters net, rampant half back Fionn O'Leary drove forward to hit a great point and to give his team some breathing space. Sylvesters scored a brace of late frees to get the game back to within a point but Skerries were not to be denied.
