U10’s Football Blitz in Stamullen last Sunday

posted 17 Sep 2015, 02:52 by Skerries Harps

The Under 10 boys took part in St.Patricks Gaa Intercounty Blitz in Stamullen on Sunday where visiting teams of Na Fianna x2, Skerries Harps x2, Ballymun Kickhams x2, Newry Shamrocks x2, St.Colmcilles x2, St.Marys Donore x2 & our own U10's participated in a great morning of underage Gaa.

Split into 2 groups Panthers & Pumas. The format of each group consisted of 6 teams with each team drawn to play 3 games. On completion of the group stages the top 2 teams would compete in the Cup Final where the 3rd & 4th teams to compete in the Shield Final, finally 5th & 6th to compete in the Plate Final.

The weather didn't do anyone any favours but that didn't stop the games continuing with all the children given their best in terrible wintery conditions.   Skerries Harps played brilliantly and won the Shield in both groups.  It was great to play against new teams from different counties and some old Dublin rivals in some very tough and competitive games.

Once again, parents travelled in large numbers which really spurred the lads on in the conditions.  Skerries Harps travelled in the largest numbers with 33 lads taking part (almost a full squad).  Our lads were proud to represent their club in what we hope will be an annual event.

A huge thanks to St. Patricks GAA Stamullen for their hospitality in their fantastic new facilities.  We look forward to having them in Skerries soon
