CASTLEKNOCK 0-14 SKERRIES HARPS 0-10

Skerries Harps Senior footballers lost their unbeaten start to the AFL2 against Castleknock at a bitterly cold Somerton Park on Wednesday night before a large crowd of visiting supporters.

Playing against the elements the home side started brightly and had two points on the board after five minutes from the boot of Ciaran Kilkenny. Harps replied with a long range effort from Colin Daly, who unfortunately had to retire minutes later to be replaced by Donal McIlgorm. Points by David O'Brien and Harry Dawson had the visitors in front soon after. In this tight encounter the sides traded  three points each before the interval, the Skerries scores coming from Paul Cashman and two from Graham Cullen, the second a great strike from 55 metres. Half Time Harps 0-6 Castleknock 0-5.

After the break Kilkenny pointed after a minute to level the game up, and as the breeze strengthened the home side added a further three points to a lone pointed free from Bryan Cullen. At 9pts to 7pts, Harps had a great spell and had three good goal chances, the best of which Dawson saw his goalbound shot cleared of the line, this period ended without a Skerries score only for Castleknock to go down the other end and slot a brace of points. Harps kept battling to the end but lost out by four points on a final score Castleknock0-14 Harps 0-10.
