Skerries Harps: 4 – 14; Lucan-Sarsfields: 1 – 11
After the disappointment of losing the League semi final to Ballinteer on Wednesday night, Skerries Harps Senior side bounced back with a burst of scoring which blew Division 1 side Lucan away in Skerries on Sunday morning.
Without McGinley, Daly and Boylan from the Wednesday night side, and also missing Reddin, Garrett and team captain Reilly, Skerries dug deep and for a change found their scoring boots.
First half goals from Harry Dawson and Oisin O'Leary saw them lead 2 – 7 to 0 – 6 at half time and two more in the second half from Bryan Cullen and Barry Davey killed the Lucan challange.
In between, Dawson gave a kicking exhibition, scoring 8 points – 2 from frees while Man of the Match Jack Smith at centre back helped himself to 2. Mark Kirwan deputised well for the injured Eoin McGinley while the Cullen brothers, although not winning midfield, combined well with Bryan doing an immense amount of work up and down the pitch both off and on the ball, while Graham set up 2 of the goals. O'Leary, Shane Hickey and Eoin Smith were always a handful for the Lucan backs and Harps were never in danger after a blistering start.
Skerries, under Charlie Redmond, advance to their second Championship final inside 2 years, having won the Intermediate Final in 2011. They now play St Oliver Plunketts/ Eoghan Ruadh next Sunday at a venue to be decided.
