Minor footballers beat Fingallians by slim margin

SKERRIES HARPS 0-11 FINGALLIANS 0-10

This opening round of the Minor Football Championship played in sunny conditions in Skerries on Sunday morning went right to the wire.

Harps opened brightly with three points from midfielder Sean Rocks, one from a 45 and another long range effort. Fingallians replied with two pointed frees, before levelling with a score from play, the teams traded points before half time before Barry McDonald scored from a free to leave Harps 0-7 to 0-5 ahead at the break. the away side got back on level terms five minutes into the second period with a couple of scores from play, and now the game was on, with Fins going 0-10 to 0-8 up with time ticking away. Harps then rallied with a point from man of the match Rocks and Stephen Smith before Robbie McKey popped up in injury time with awell taken score to win it for the seasiders.
