Division 1 League – Harps 2-11 Whitehall Colmcille 2-10

Division 7 League – Harps 7-15 Na Fianna B 2-5

Harps under 14 boys footballers, sponsored by Moriartys SuperValu, pulled out all the stops to make it a great Club day on Saturday 7 March with two great victories in their respective Dublin leagues before playing hosts to Omagh St. Endas from Co. Tyrone who paid us a visit as part of a National Football League trip.

The Division 7 side started the day off with a home win over Na Fianna in Townparks to continue their unbeaten run over the first four games of the season, now topping the table. The huge scoreline reflects the current form the lads are in and under the watchful eyes of the mentors, Brian Trant, John Archbold, Joe Drumm and Peter Kenny, these boys mean business in 2015.

Our Division 1 team went to Ellenfield, Whitehall and encountered an expected tough, close battle in difficult conditions. Trailing by 1-4 to 0-2 after 15 minutes, it looked as if it wasn’t going to be our day. However, the lads kept their shape and upped the work-rate to leave it level at half time 0-7 to 1-4. Playing against a stiff breeze in the second half, the boys in blue showed their class and took control early on with two goals and never relinquished their lead even though they conceded a goal in the last play of the game. A great win for the lads in highly competitive Dublin football leagues where the Player Pathway focus on skills and team work, is paying dividends for both A and B teams.

Both teams (34 players) quickly made for the Club to regroup before togging out to play our hosts Omagh St. Endas.  The visitors were obviously not here for the sightseeing, and immediately hit the front leading by 9 points at half time. Harps regrouped, took control of the second half and finished up victors in a very sporting game with Omagh.

A perfect Club day was completed with a feast of food prepared by our brilliant under 14 Mams (led by Eimear Wilde and Debbie Steevens) who ensured every kid from both panels and our visiting mentors were given a warm Skerries welcome in our new high quality facilities.

A great Harps Club day with two Clubs from different provinces coming together to give sixty five kids a healthy and enjoyable experience, with parents supporting preparations, with Club volunteers ensuring that the pitches, teams and Clubhouse are top-notch for our day – this is true GAA spirit alive and well in Skerries  – Cláirseacha na Scéirí Abu !!!
