Harps u12s victorious in Summer Football Blitz

posted 29 Aug 2013, 08:47 by Skerries Harps
Moriarty SuperValu sponsored U12 Footballers gave a masterclass in Naomh Olaf's grounds on Saturday, winning a competition containing teams from Div 1/2 of the Northside/Southside Go-Games leagues. The Harps faced a stiff challenge in a group which included Naomh Olaf, Geraldine Morans and Naomh Barróg.

A team that has competed well in previous underage blitzes but has always come up short, Harps showed a great sense of maturity when they were narrowly defeated in their first game but pushed on to win their remaining matches in style giving them a huge points difference to collect "gold". Their attacking style of play was a joy to watch giving the Skerries supporters who travelled to Sandyford plenty to cheer about.

The team was Eoghan Mc Donald (who scored the score of the tournament!!), Eoin Winters, Sean Campbell, Finn Chatten, Matthew Dooley, Adam El Shamy, Adam Fearon, Matthew Kelly, Paul Wilde, Robert Delaney & David Boyd.

Mentors : Thomas Connolly, Joe Kelly and Pat Delaney

The future is bright for this team and the overall u12 group of footballers which numbers 43 kids and enter 3 teams in Dublin competitions. Our volunteer mentors and helpers, allow Harps to offer this big group maximum game time, skills development and more importantly, fun.

Well done to all the lads and the mentors/helpers of the 3 teams - keep up the great efforts.
