Alternative Car Parking during Building Development

posted 28 Feb 2014, 00:27 by Skerries Harps   [ updated 11 Apr 2014, 02:08 ]

The clubhouse development commenced on the 24th of February 2014 and the Club car park will not be available from that date. The club is making best efforts to provide alternatives but we would ask all members, mentors, players and parents to wherever possible walk (or car pool) to the Club during the year. The club has developed the following for 2014 to cater for parking and to ensure safety.

Visiting Teams:

Directions to the Mills Car Park are at the bottom of this note.

Academy:

The academy on Saturday has between 70 and 100 cars parking and dropping children to the Club at 10am. The Club has 2 alternatives for parents :

a) park in the Mill Car park and walk the public pathway to the Community Centre via Millhill with a walk of approx 5minutes

b)     park in SuperValu car park and walk to club house through Community Centre.

There is no official drop off facility at the club or the Community Centre for Academy.

Juvenile Matches::

For all fixtures the Mill car park should be used by visiting teams. Walk to Townparks pitch or to Main pitch via Millhill and Community Centre.

Home teams should use SuperValu/Mill car parks and access the club via the Community Centre.

Note : no change to current arrangements for Kellys Bay & Ballast Pit

Adult Games (Saturday Evening and Sunday Morning):

For all Adult Games Fixtures the Mill car park should be used by visiting teams. Walk to Townparks pitch or to Main pitch via Millhill and Community Centre.

Home teams should use SuperValu/Mill car parks and access the club via the Community Centre.

Training

Juvenile training at main pitch:

With the concentration of training on the main pitch during the February-March period, midweek training will be one of the busiest times. The Community Centre car park is generally full at these times. Parents/older juveniles should be encouraged to walk to training.

A drop and go system will be facilitated during the week along the Dublin Rd with two drop zones:

a)     Footpath on Harps side of the road from the bus stop down to Clubhouse

b)     The Haven car parking space

To operate this effectively and safely each team will be asked to have a mentor/helper with Hi-Viz in place in this area before training and at the end of training. (Chris Mc Convey will arrange for supply of HI-Viz jackets)

Training Sessions with 7pm start time:

The training schedule highlights that the sessions commencing at 7pm will be a very busy period – these sessions should now be scheduled to start at 6.45 to avoid major congestion with teams leaving after a 7pm finish. Accordingly, mentors are to advise parents/children that this session officially starts at 6.45. Mentors will need to arrange to accommodate this change of time.

Adult Training:

Adult Training should look to park in SuperValu or any other local alternative that works for them. The Community Centre car park is typically full during our training times and will not be available for parking.
