St.Pats (P) 0-13 Skerries Harps Senior Football 1-12:

Harps recorded their first win of the season at the third attempt at a windswept Palmerstown on Sunday morning last. Coming from seven points behind to win in a pulsating finish.

Playing against the elements Harps soon found themselves four points to one behind, Shane Hickey pointing for the seasiders. Pats then increased their lead throughout the half to lead 10pts to three at the break, with Harry Dawson scoring two for the visitors. Hero of the first half was Harps net minder Alun

Cullinan who made three point blank saves to keep Pats goalless.

Paul Cashman who was dangerous all day pointed after half time followed by scores from Hickey and Dawson to leave the score 10pts to 6, and playing with the strengthening wind the visitors were were back in the game only for the home side to respond with three unanswered points to put them seven points ahead with 12 minutes left.

Harps kept eating into the lead with 2  Dawson points from play and one from sub Tommy Ryan closed the gap to four. Then when a Dawson shot came back of an upright super sub Ryan reacted quickest to fire a shot to the corner of the net to leave the minimum between the sides. It was then the mercurial Dawson turned defeat into victory with three sublime points from distance to secure a two point victory. Great credit to the team for their never say die attitude with Cullinan, Oliver, Eoin Smith, Cashman and Dawson to the fore. Next up for Harps is a Home game V Castleknock on Sat 12th April 6pm.

Skerries Harps AFL 6:

After two disappointing defeats in their first two league games a much better overall team performance and much better use of the ball resulted in a fine 6-11 to 0-4 home win for the Skerries Harps AFL 6 team in their match against Naomh Fionnbarra.

The final score line maybe a little flattering to Skerries who found themselves behind by 2 points early in the game but 2 points by Ronan O’Sullivan followed by 2 goals in quick succession by Robbie Ferguson and Colin Clinton helped to settle the home side who played with a strong breeze in the first half.

It is difficult to single out individual performances as each player played very well but brilliant saves by goal keeper, Shane Rice, as crucial stages in the game seemed to deflate the opposition and at the same time increase the confidence level of the Skerries’ players.

Naomh Fionbarra started strongly with the breeze at their backs in the second half and they got the opening points but again Skerries settled down and through clever and quick passing moves they got the scores which helped them to see off the strong challenge of the visitors.

Skerries: Shane Rice, Stephen Farrell, Aidan Keogh, Andy Sexton, Jason Rogan, Thomas Connolly, David O’Brien, Peter Ellis, Aaron Duncan, Cian Coleman, Johnny Garret, Tony Daly, Ronan O’Sullivan, Colin Clinton, Robbie Ferguson.
