Skerries Harps:  0 – 17;  Naomh Barrog:  0 – 5

After the hiccup against Castleknock, Skerries Harps returned to winning ways with an emphatic win over N. Barrog in this Senior Football League game Skerries on Saturday. Despite being without team captain Colin Daly and also Donnacha Reilly, Skerries were never in any trouble.

Although the visitors were first to score, Harps went on a run of  7 unanswered points and went in at the break leading 0 - 10 to 0 - 3. They were helped by some fine point scoring from Graham Cullen and Mark Boylan together with a powerful midfield display from current Dublin minor Donal McIlgorm who formed a strong midfield partnership with Boylan.

It took 12 minutes of the second half before either side registered a score – Sean Rocks gathering and pointing after a Bryan Cullen shot hit the post. Leading by 9 points, Skerries brought on Reilly who hit 3 successive scores to kill off the game - the Kilbarrack side notching up 2 late points.

Once again Harps platform to success was based on a solid half back line of the Smith brothers, Jack and Eoin, with David O'Brien in the middle, backed by the ever vigilent Eoghan McGinley at full back. Goalkeeper Alun Cullinan was confident on the ball and made one stunning save early on. Up front Harry Dawson was quiet following a training injury and was replaced at the break. The Cullen brothers provided the experience for Sean Rocks and Barry Davey to shine while Paul Cashman carried the ball with intent.

Skerries next game is a Senior Championship second round tilt with the Jack McCaffrey powered Clontarf in Balgriffin on Friday 5th June. Two days later, on Sunday 7th June, Harps second string take on St Maurs in a Junior Championship local derby in Skerries.
