Skerries Harps Club Notes 18th of February 2019

Hard luck to our AFL1 & AFL4 teams who were defeated in their opening league matches on Sun 18th. Juvenile Boys Football has now recommenced for all teams from U8-U16, well done to all our teams who took part in Go Games activity and competed in their respective leagues over the weekend.

Hard luck to Alix Buckley and the Dublin Senior Camogie Team who were defeated by Limerick in the league yesterday Sun 18th. 

Reminder, Skerries Harps Annual Membership fees are now due and are available for renewal online at www.skerriesharps.ie/club-membership. All Players (Adult & Juvenile) must have membership and injury fund fees paid up to date before commencement of the 2019 season, which for some teams has already occurred. The last of our Community Walk Every Thursdays takes place this Thurs Feb 21st as part of the "Ireland Lights up" initiative in partnership with Operation Transformation. Meet 6.30pm for walk at 7, wear High-Vis Jacket if possible! 

Skerries Harps Gaelic4mothers&Others team back training every Monday eve from 9-10pm at the main pitch. Come along and join in. Great fun and a great way to get out playing football in a fun, non-competitive and social environment. Contact Chris for more info on 087 972 5519.

The Annual "Bernie Dowling" Coffee Morning in aid of the St Francis Hospice will take place in the Clubhouse on Fri 1 March from 10am. All support much appreciated.

Well done to our Senior 1 Camogie Team who opened their Leinster league campaign on Sunday the 10th with a 1-9 To 0-8 win over Na Fianna.

Congratulations to Lyndsey Davey, Eve Kehoe & the Dublin Senior Ladies on their league win over Tipperary on Sunday the 10th. 

Well done to our Club representatives who played for Dublin over the weekend - James Casey (Dublin Minors vs Derry) & Hannah McGinnis (U14 Football development vs Wicklow). Congratulations to Megan Carroll & Emma Parker, both named on the 2019 Dublin Minor Camogie Panel.

Gaelic4Mother&Others - Get Involved

Gaelic4Mothers&Others initiative is an innovative way to introduce mothers and other women to playing Ladies Gaeilic Football in a fun, non-competitive and social environment. The team are back training every Monday evening from 9-10pm on Skerries Harps Main pitch. If you're interested why not pop along to see what it's all about, chat to the team or bring your boots and join in the fun. This years Golf Schedule just announced

Our first golf outing of the year is in Balbriggan G.C. on Friday the 10th of May. Timesheet 12:40pm to 2:40pm.

New members and visitors always welcome. Golf followed by meal and prize presentation in Harps clubhouse that evening. Contact Paul Murray at 085-1740474 to book a tee time.

Congratulations to Lyndsey Davey on winning the 2018 Fingal independent Sport Star award last night - many thanks to all who voted! Great news that Lyndsey has committed to another year at Inter county for 2019, here's to continued success! 

Hard luck to Stephen Smith and the Dublin Footballers on their defeat to Westmeath in the O'Byrne Cup Final last Friday the 18th of January.

Well done to Hannah McGinnis who played with the Dublin U14 Ladies Football team vs Cavan on Sat 19th.

Caretaker position in Skerries Harps GAA. Duties to include

• Preparation of maintenance programmes for grounds

 • Carry out cleaning and light maintenance duties, painting, gardening and general Repairs.

• Ensure that the highest levels of safety, hygiene and cleanliness are met at all times In the clubhouse and around the pitch and grounds areas.

 • Prepare Clubhouse for special events/bookings

 • Prepare pitches and mark pitches for use

• Assist with stock control duties

• Ensure all equipment is maintained in a safe condition.

• Ensuring safety and security of building and pitches

• Carry out any other duties as directed by Supervisor and/or Club Chairman
