Skerries Harps Club Notes 17th June 2019

Well done to the Blue Bar sponsored Junior Hurlers on their win over OPER in the Junior B Championship on Tuesday the 11th. The Junior Ladies recorded a strong win over Sylvesters in Division 6A. 

Congratulations to Eoin Wilde, who played with the Dublin u16 Hurling team in the Celtic Challenge quarter-final win over Kilkenny on Saturday and was awarded the Best & Fairest player. Well done also to Adam Fearon with the Dublin U20s, Lauren Bryce with the Dublin u13 ladies Development team & Joe May with the Dublin U16 footballers. Great to see so much representation from across our club on County panels.

Well done to all the boys and girls from our local Primary Schools, (over 800 !) Realt Na mara, St Patricks SNS, Educate Together & Holmpatrick NS who participated in the first ever Inter-Schools Football, Hurling & Camogie Blitz. Great fun had by all, and special thanks to our GPO Louise, Club Coach Johnny & our coaches who put a huge amount of work into organising a great day for the kids. 

The Academy is now on summer break, following a fun day on Sat 15th, and the annual BBQ. Many thanks to Eurospar Ireland (Skerries) for their support. Academy will resume in Sept 2019.

Well done to the AFL1 team on their win over St Brigids on Saturday the 8th of June. The AFL4 team lost out to St Finians Newscastle on Sat evening. 

Hard luck to the Skerries Community Games U12 Girls Football team who were defeated by Malahide in the semi-final stages midweek in a very competitive game. Best of luck to 

Malahide in the remainder of the competition and to the Skerries girls who will play Lusk in. 3rd/4th place playoff. 

Well done to Kevin Gilmore and Jack Smith who lined out for Longford & Westmeath Senior teams respectively yesterday in the Championship qualifiers. Both teams recorded wins!

Skerries Harps Club Notes 4th June 2019

Well done to the AFL9 team who travelled to Templeogue Synge Street on Sunday the 26th of May and recorded a good win in the league. The AHL5 team defeated Na Fianna midweek in the league at home. The Moriarty Supervalu u16 Div 1 Boys Footballers recorded a strong win over Na Fianna on Thurs 30th, and are in a 3-way tie at top of Div 1 with one league fixture to play.

Hard luck to the Skerries Community Games U14 Camogie team who missed out on representing Dublin in the Leinster stages after 2 tough games on Fri 31st. The u12 girls football team won their group game and will now face Malahide in the Dublin Community Games semi-final.

Well done to the Realt na Mara Junior Girls football team who made it all the way to the Fingal schools league final, losing out to a strong Oliver Plunketts Primary School side. Fantastic achievement girls, Maith Thú.

Well done to all our representatives on the underage Dublin squads, Eoin Wilde on the Dublin Plunkett Hurling team who defeated Laois in the Celtic challenge, Hannah McGinnis with the Dublin u14 Ladies Football squad and Alex Ward with the Dublin U14 Camogie team. Adam Fearon represented the Club with the Dublin u20s midweek vs Kildare-  congrats Adam!

Thanks also to Paul, referee coordinator and all the young referees for doing a great job!

Skerries Harps Club Notes 27th May 2019

Well done to the Senior Ladies Football team on their win over St Maurs midweek in the Intermediate Championship, & the Junior ladies who defeated Ballymun Kickhams. AFL4 recorded a win over Sylvesters on Tues night at home. 

Well done to The U8 boys who participated in the Festival of Football blitz hosted by Kilmacud Crokes and the U12 Girls who took part in the Caman to Leinster organised by the Camogie Association and held in Abbotstown.

Hard luck to the Skerries Community Games U11 Hurlers & U10 Footballers who lost out in their respective games last week, despite so great performances and displays of skill. 

Another weekend with plenty of representation on underage Dublin squads - Ronan Geoghegan, Greg McEneaney & Eoghan O'connor Flanagan travelled to Sligo with Dublin U15 Football, Joe May,& Eoin Wilde represented the club on the Dublin u16 team vs Kildare in Celbridge, Megen Frazer played with the u15 Ladies Football against Kerry & Hannah McGinnis played in the All Ireland u14 Ladies Football series. Well done all.

Skerries Harps Club Notes 20th May 2019

Well done to our U14 Girls Feile Div 3 & 10 teams who competed on Sat on the LGFA Feile. Both teams made it to semi-final stages which is a fantastic achievement. 2019 Feile has come to an end & our U14 boys and girls took part in Hurling Camogie & football and represented the club with pride in all competitions. Many thanks to the mentors, parents, Feile committee and co-ordinators and sponsors TMG Cycles, Frenchlawn Construction, Little Daisy Flowers & Kudos Kitchenware for all their support.

Well done to the Minor Camogie team on winning the B shield vs Kilmacud Crokes on Sun 19th. Senior 1 Camogie recorded a league win over St Judes midweek and Senior Ladies Football defeated Lucan Sarsfieds in the Intermediate Championship. 

Well done to the Skerries u10 boys & U12 girls Community Games GAA teams who both won their first games against Castleknock on Sun 19th

Joe May, Ben Jones & Eoin Wilde represented the club on the Dublin u16 team vs Kerry in Limerick on Sun 19th.  Well done also to Megan Frazer who represented the club in the Poc Fada Competition on Fri 17th.

Skerries Harps Club Notes 13th May 2019

A busy week on the field of play with midweek fixtures in full swing. Our AFL1 team recorded a draw against Cuala away from home on Wednesday the 8th, and a win at home on Sunday the 12th against OP ER. AFL4 had a good win over Clontarf in the midweek fixture but lost out by the narrowest of margins on Sunday to Cuala. AFL9 were defeated by St Finians Swords. The Senior Ladies lost out by 1pt to Parnells in the Intermediate Championship. 

The club had plenty of representatives on Dublin panels over the weekend, Hannah McGinnis with u14 ladies Football, Alex Ward U14 Camogie, Ronan Geoghegan U15 hurling, Eoin Wilde U16 Hurling/Celtic Challenge, Emma Parker & Megan Carroll Intermediate Camogie & Alix Buckley Senior Camogie. Well done to all! Great to see the Harps so well represented!

Well done to Daire Geoghegan, Cillian Wilde & Jaring Fitzgerald who came 1st, 2nd & 3rd respectively in the Community Games Poc Fada competition on Sunday - Daire & Cillian now move on to the Dublin competition to represent Skerries.

Skerries Harps 1st Golf Outing of the year took place on Friday at Balbriggan GC. The course was in magnificent condition for the 48 players and many thanks to all at the Balbriggan GC for their continued hospitality. Congrats to Patsy Beggs the overall winner with 37 pts, and to all the prize winners. Best of luck for the year ahead to The SHAGS 2019 Captain Joe Coleman. Finally, many thanks to all who competed and helped make it a great day. Next Outing is on Fri 14th June to Swords Open GC. Enquiries to Paul Murray.

Our U14 Boys competed in Feile Peil na nOg over the weekend in Div 2 & 8 and despite some great performances it wasn’t to be for the teams and mentors. Well done to all involved, especially the committee who hosted Div 8 in Skerries.

The Senior Ladies recorded a league with in AFL2 over Lucan Sarsfields midweek, & the Junior Hurlers who recorded a strong win over Crumlin in the Championship on Sun 5th.

Hard luck to Jane Maguire Robyn Buckley Rachel O'Brien, Sarah Smith and the Dublin u16 Camogie team who were defeated by Kilkenny in Sundays Leinster final.

Well done to Hannah McGinnis who played with Dublin u14 ladies vs Wexford over the weekend.

Well done to our Healthy Club Officer, Jackie, who completed the 24hr Static cycle in aid of Skerries Youth Support Services over the weekend, and to all our players & members who cycled for an hour or 2 at various intervals in Sat and Sun.

Many thanks to Cavan Senior Football Captain Killian Clarke for giving his time midweek to coach our Minor Footballers. The lads thoroughly enjoyed a great session!
