Skerries Harps Club Notes 22nd June 2020

Cúl Camp Update

Following a review of the guidelines received from the GAA, facilities available & the logistics required to run camps the Club Executive have decided it is not feasible to proceed with Cúl Camps this year.

The club's priority is the safety of the children & our coaches as well as the the children's enjoyment at the camps. We acknowledge there will be disappointment as our two Cúl Camps normally cater for around 600 children however this number would have been reduced significantly & led to more children being excluded than included.

Planning & Development Update

An update in relation to Planning & Development from the Club Executive.

On December 16th 2019 Fingal County Council granted Skerries Harps planning permission to develop an All Weather training pitch & skills wall on our existing training area subject to a number of conditions.

This decision was subsequently appealed to An Bord Pleanála & last week we were notified that the "Grant Permission" decision by Fingal County Council was upheld subject to a number of conditions.

Thanks to our Planning & Development group & Mark G. Kelly Architects for their work getting this project through the planning process.

As we look to improve our playing facilities this is a positive outcome however there is a lot more work required in relation to funding before we can break ground on this project.

Safe Return to Gaelic Games

Our Club Executive have reviewed the detailed plan issued by the GAA, Camogie Association & the LGFA just over a week ago.  They are now working on putting the necessary measures in place to so that when the green light to resume is given we can do so in a safe manner while adhering to both Government guidelines & meeting  the requirements set out in this plan.

We would encourage our members, in particular players & parent's of our Juvenile players, to read this plan to get familiarised with the requirements. By doing so it will make the transition back easier for everyone concerned.

You can access the plan by clicking on Safe Return to Gaelic Games

The 3 associations are holding a Club Briefing webinar on Tuesday 16th June from 6 - 7pm which will be attended by   our Covid Supervisors as well as Club Officers. This webinar is open to all & if interested you can register here

The Covid-19 Club Education online module is expected to be available from Thursday 18th June & will take approximately 30 minutes to complete. Details on accessing the module will be shared later this week.  All      stakeholders (players/team personnel/covid supervisors & parents/guardians will be required to complete this module.

Finally a reminder that our facilities remain closed during Phase 2 & that no club organised training will take place until June 29th subject to Phase 3 proceeding as planned.

Zingo Result 14-June

Zingo draw took place on Sunday evening, the numbers drawn were 6-1-3-4-5-7-2 & there were no winners of the Jackpot or Dividend.  Next week's Jackpot €1,700 Dividend €450.

Supporting our local businesses

A number of local businesses are opening again as part of the phase 2 lifting of restrictions & we would ask our members to shop local where possible. These businesses have supported our club over the years by sponsoring teams, pitch advertising, event advertising or by simply providing a raffle prize.....now is our opportunity to support them over the coming weeks & months!

The Club extends it's deepest sympathies to the Abell family on the recent passing of Anne Abell. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.

Skerries Harps Club Notes 8th June 2020

posted 8 Jun 2020, 06:21 by Skerries Harps   [ updated 8 Jun 2020, 06:26 ]

Safe Return to Gaelic Games

On Friday The GAA, An Cumann Camogaíochta and the LGFA published a plan for a safe return to Gaelic games for the three organisations.

The plan is the work of a specially appointed Advisory Committee, which included representatives of all three bodies, the GPA and a number of medical experts.

It offers a route back to activity, subject to the government timelines being achieved in the weeks and months ahead.

Some of the key elements of the report include:

· A gradual return to on-field non-contact activity in Phase Three of the Government plan in small groups.

· The need for an online education programme and new measures around temperature checking and completed documentation before training and games.

· A return to contact sport on July 20.

· Provisional windows for club activity and the return of inter-county training and competitions.

Our Club Executive are currently reviewing this detailed plan so that when the green light to resume is given we are        in a position to do so in a safe manner while adhering to both Government guidelines & meeting the requirements set    out in this plan.

We would encourage our members, in particular players & parent's of our Juvenile players, to read this plan to get familiarised with the requirements. By doing so it will make the transition back easier for everyone concerned

You can access the plan by clicking on Safe Return to Gaelic Games

Finally a reminder that our facilities remain closed during Phase 2 & that no club organised training will take place during this time.

Summer Camp Update

We are aware that a number of parents have been in touch with our GPO & Club Coach in relation to securing a place on our camps for their child/children.  The Club Executive have not made a final decision on whether we will be running any camps this year. We will continue to monitor the situation taking into account both Government & GAA policy/guidelines before making a final decision.
